Everyone Is Talking About AI. We’re Putting It Up for Debate

AI is dominating conversations across digital advertising. But with so much noise, hype and rapid change, the industry needs more than another discussion about what might happen next.

On 10th September, IAB Europe will bring The Great Debate: AI to Paris and online, hosted by Microsoft and in partnership with VideoWeek, with a simple aim: to challenge assumptions, hear opposing perspectives and move the conversation forward.

Unlike a traditional panel discussion, The Great Debate puts clear motions on the table and asks speakers to take a side, make their case and challenge each other’s thinking. The audience is part of the discussion too, with the opportunity to weigh in and see where opinion lands.

What’s on the Table?

We’ll kick off with an exclusive first look at our upcoming Impact of AI on Digital Advertising Report, sharing fresh insights into how AI is already changing the industry and where its impact is being felt most.

From there, we’ll move into two live debates tackling some of the biggest questions surrounding AI in digital advertising:

  • This house believes that agentic advertising is overhyped
  • This house believes that AI-generated creative will commodify brand communication

We’ll then broaden the conversation with a fireside chat exploring the AI economy, looking at what the next phase of AI adoption could mean for the digital advertising ecosystem.

Meet the Speakers

Our first confirmed speakers bring perspectives from across the digital advertising ecosystem:

Katharina Schneeberg, Head of Innovation & Technology, BVDW (Host)

Tracey Pilon, EMEA & LATAM AI Acceleration Director, Microsoft

Vincent Flood, Editor-in-Chief, VideoWeek

Maria de la Calle, Account Director, Enterprise Sales, EMEA, Magnite

David Raichman, Executive Creative Director at Ogilvy Paris & Global AI Creative Lead

Lauren Saving, Head of International Marketing, Index Exchange

Francois Loviton, Managing Director, Google Advertising France

Franck Lewkowicz, Country Manager, France, PubMatic

More speakers will be announced soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

This Isn’t Another Panel Discussion

The Great Debate is designed to get beyond broad statements about AI and into the questions the industry is actively grappling with.

Is agentic advertising genuinely poised to transform the way digital advertising operates, or is the excitement running ahead of reality?

As AI-generated creative becomes more sophisticated and widely adopted, will it unlock greater creativity and efficiency, or make brand communication increasingly difficult to differentiate?

And, more broadly, what does the growth of AI mean for the economics of digital advertising?

There may not be one simple answer, which is exactly why we’re putting these questions up for debate.

Join Us in Paris or Online

The Great Debate: AI takes place on 10th September at 14:00 CET and is free to attend, either in person in Paris or online.

Those joining us in Paris will be able to take part in the live discussion and stay on afterwards to connect with speakers and fellow attendees. If you can’t make it to Paris, you can tune in online and follow the debate as it unfolds.
