On Tuesday, 15th April 2025, we hosted an exclusive webinar, Optimisation Over Reform, offering attendees a first look at the findings from our latest consumer study conducted in collaboration with Kantar Media. The session shed light on how European internet users perceive online advertising, data privacy, and the value exchange that underpins access to free digital services.
The webinar brought together key voices from the policy, research, and digital advertising communities. James Burke, Director at Kantar Media, presented the key findings and contextualised the results, while Franck Thomas, Public Policy Director at IAB Europe, discussed their implications for the EU digital and consumer agenda with his forward-looking policy recommendations. Their presentation was followed by a moderated Q&A that encouraged lively discussion and deeper engagement from participants across the EU institutions and industry.
The study, which aimed to inform the EU digital and consumer policy conversation, captured insights from 10,500 respondents aged 16 and above across 12 European countries. Interviews were conducted in 1,000 in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Czechia, and Belgium, and 500 in Denmark, the Republic of Ireland, and Norway. This ensured a diverse and representative snapshot of the EU’s digital consumer landscape.
