Towards Responsible Influencer Marketing: Cooperation Between Policymakers, Regulators and Industry

17th November | 12:00 PM CET I Register here

Influencer marketing has become a major focus of both policy and public concern. The European Commission’s upcoming Digital Fairness Act (DFA) could place new demands on the influencer economy, especially around transparency, manipulation, and consumer protection. At the same time, industry-led initiatives like EASA’s AdEthics programme are already working to promote ethical conduct regarding influencer content.

This webinar will explore how policymakers, regulators, and the industry can work together to build trust in influencer marketing. The discussion will look at the role of targeted enforcement in addressing harmful practices, the importance of awareness raising among influencers and consumers alike, and how existing legislation can already be applied effectively in this space. National perspectives will also be highlighted to show how various approaches across Europe are shaping a fairer and more responsible influencer ecosystem.

Agenda (CET)

12:00-12:05 Introduction by IAB Europe

12:05-12:15 Presentation: Navigating Trust and Transparency in the Influencer Economy

  • Speaker: Alexandre Dérobert, Public Affairs and Policy Manager, EASA

Influencer marketing is a strongly developing trend. In recent years, interest has grown in protecting and nurturing the trust between the content creators and their audience. Attention about this issue has raised across interested actors, from consumers to brands, to the entire advertising ecosystem, while also not forgetting influencers themselves. Meanwhile, policymakers are keeping this matter under increased scrutiny, evaluating whether additional measures are needed to address this phenomenon. EASA’s self-regulatory network is developing efficient solutions to the benefit of all stakeholders, in particular the adEthics training, which this presentation will dive into.
